The Bay Area Gardener’s Foundation was founded in 2002 by a group of hard working gardeners.
Their purpose was to form a foundation in order to help low income students by providing them with scholarships and the opportunity to pursue their dreams.
Catalino Tapia, founder and current President noticed the financial hardships that many families in his very own community faced in order to send their children to college or a university. It was then that Catalino got together with other gardeners and became active asking their wealthiest clients for donations to create funds to help economically disadvantage studentsto achieve their dream of attending a 2-year and/or 4 year college. The positive response from their clients was soon overwhelming and thus the Bay Area Gardener’s Foundation was born.
